The Church in a historic and prophetic perspective.

In this biblestudy I will try to show you the link or connection between
Abram trying to count the stars, and the apostle John in his revelation
trying to count the great multitude.
When The Holy Spirit revealed this to me, I suddenly saw The Church of
Christ in a new perspective. You and I live somewhere in that perspective.

Read with me:
Gen.15,5-6: «And He (God) took him (Abram) outside and said, «Now look
toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them,»
And He said to him, «So shall your descendants be.»
Then he believed in the Lord; and He reconed it to him as righteousness.»

Abram was childless, and when he looked at himselves and his wife, Sarai,
he saw no future, no hope of having any heirs or successors.
But God called him outside.
Then God told him to look towards the heavens, and count the stars.
In this way God got him away from looking at himself, Sarai and all the
circumstances with no hope and no future.
On Gods command, Abram started to count the stars. Obedient he tryed to do
the impossible. Nobody can count all the stars, -not even today with all
the instruments we have available.
By counting the stars he broke through the border of the kingdom disbelief
and entered the kingdom of trust and faith.
And God spoke to Abram saying: «So shall your descendants be»
Abram believed God. By faith he saw what was not yet there, -as if it was.
He saw sons and daughters, generations after generations....
Hebrew 11,1 says: «Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the
conviction of things not seen.»
This is the kind of faith Abram had, -and this is the kind of faith we need
today in our personal life as well as in our churches.
Abrams act of faith was so strong that God «reconed it to him as
righteousness.» And God even gave him a new name, -ABRAHAM, meaning father
of many children.

Then, -let´s make a giant jump from the first book in the Bible, to the
last, The Revelation.

Let´s read from Rev. 7, 9: «After these things I looked, and behold, a
great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes
and people and tongues, standing before the Lamb, clothed in white robes,
and palm branches were in their hands.»

Remember, this has not yet taken place, But by faith John saw it in his God
given revelation. And, one day this will be a reality.
Read with me again Heb. 11,1: «Now faith is the assurance of things hoped
for, the conviction of things not seen.»

But, -who are these people dressed in white?
Part of the answere is: They are the descendants of Abraham. When he saw
them as stars that not could be counted, John saw them as a great multitude
which no one could count.

In my next bible-study I will show you how we, -living in our modern
society-, can become descendants of Abraham and be part of that multitude
that John saw.
Until then, - God bless you and keep you.
